I am Dr. Sonasha Braxton. I partner with corporate executives, founders, and NGO leaders who carry real responsibility. I bring a PhD in psychology and 20 years of work across four continents. I draw on a wide range of methods, from leadership science and strength based psychology to cultural and community practices from around the world, and I choose what fits the person and the organization in front of me.
Whether you lead a multimillion dollar company or an organization serving communities in crisis, the human questions are the same: Who do I need to become? How do I bring my people with me? How do we do this well and do it fairly?
For leaders in growing and established companies who want performance and humanity in the same room. We work on presence, strategy, culture, and the people decisions that shape everything else.
For leaders doing mission work under real constraints. I know this world from the inside, from field programs to headquarters, and I understand the weight of donor pressure, crisis response, and caring for staff who care for others.
Most engagements begin at one of four points. Each one is a human problem and a business problem at the same time.
A promotion, a founding role, a merger, or a new market. The seat changes quickly. I help you build the judgment, presence, and relationships it requires.
Revenue or headcount is moving, but roles, systems, and decision rights have not caught up, and you are carrying the gap.
Turnover, conflict, silence in meetings, or a culture that looks healthy on paper and feels different in the hallway.
Every hire carries weight. Putting the right people in the right roles takes structure and insight, not instinct alone.
These are the values that shape how I listen, how I assess, and how I help leaders and organizations change.
Titles, budgets, and targets matter. People matter more. Every engagement starts with the person in the seat and the people they lead.
I look first for what is already working in you and your organization, then build from there. People grow faster when they are seen accurately, including their gifts.
I work from heart space: present, honest, and caring. That is what makes hard conversations possible and keeps trust intact when the stakes are high.
Story, metaphor, visual mapping, and movement surface insight that analysis alone can miss. Creativity is a serious strategic tool, and I use it with intention.
Twenty years across four continents taught me that no single method works everywhere. I bring a broad toolkit shaped by many cultures and traditions, and I match the approach to your people, not the other way around.
Who has voice, who carries the load, and who benefits. Equity is built into every diagnosis and every plan from the beginning.
Each program stands on its own or combines with others in a longer engagement, for companies and mission driven organizations alike. Choose the one that matches your priority, and we will shape it to your context.

I have sat with people in some of the hardest conditions humans face, in humanitarian programs and in institutions under pressure. What I learned there is what I bring to leadership: people are more than their worst moment, and organizations are more than their org chart. The strength is usually already there. My work is helping you see it, name it, and build from it.
A consultation is a focused conversation about where you are, what you want to change, and whether this work fits.

Start with a consultation. We will look at your situation together and choose a starting point.
Leadership challenges rarely live in one place. A decision is shaped by how a person thinks, how their body responds to pressure, who they trust, and the system and history around them. I work across all four, from a place of care, curiosity, and high standards.
We look at how you interpret situations, the assumptions behind your decisions, and the habits of thought that help or limit you. The work is practical and evidence based, and it is also creative. Story, metaphor, and visual mapping help leaders step outside familiar thinking and see options they could not see before. Then we test new approaches until they hold under real conditions.
Performance is physiological as well as strategic. Chronic stress narrows judgment and erodes relationships long before it shows up on a dashboard. We build simple, repeatable practices for regulating your stress response, protecting energy, and recovering well, so that capacity is sustained across a quarter and a career.
Most leadership results are produced through other people, and people follow leaders they trust. Working from heart space means bringing presence, honesty, and care into the room, especially when conversations are hard. We work on how you communicate, give and receive feedback, hold conflict, and see the strengths in the people around you. Where useful, we profile working styles so the team shares language about how it operates.
No leader operates in a vacuum. Culture, incentives, structure, and questions of equity and belonging shape what is possible, and people bring their histories and communities with them to work. This work is grounded in a womanist and liberation informed view that people are whole and that context matters. We examine the system you lead inside and make changes at that level, not only at the level of the individual.
My approach brings together psychology and organizational practice with knowledge systems that communities around the world have relied on for generations. That combination is what lets the work land in a corporate boardroom and in a field office with equal integrity.
Principles such as Ubuntu, the understanding that we become who we are through one another, and Sankofa, reaching back for wisdom in order to move forward, shape how I think about leadership, community, and change.
Listening circles and collective reflection give every voice a place, surface what hierarchy tends to hide, and build shared ownership of decisions.
Story, metaphor, visual mapping, and movement help people access insight and steadiness that analysis alone cannot reach. They are used with purpose and always tied to the goals of the engagement.
Doctoral training in clinical and community psychology, strength based practice, and organizational development give the work its structure, its evidence, and its ways of measuring change.
An intake conversation about your goals, context, and what success looks like. Confidential from the start.
Interviews, circles, tools, and data that show what is happening and what strengths are already present.
A written plan with priorities, practices, and measures we agree on together.
Regular sessions, real world experiments, and accountability between meetings.
We measure progress, adjust the plan, and build what you need to sustain the change.
Words from leaders and teams I have worked with.
I am Dr. Sonasha Braxton. I come to this work as a Black woman rooted in African centered and womanist traditions, trained in psychology, and shaped by twenty years of work across four continents, ten of those years in clinical practice. My training spans clinical psychology, community psychology, Africana studies, human rights, and global mental health.
I have sat with people in some of the hardest conditions humans face, in humanitarian programs and in institutions under heavy pressure. What I carry from those rooms into every boardroom and leadership team is simple. People are more than their worst moment. Organizations are more than their org chart. The strength is usually already present, and it grows when someone sees it accurately and names it out loud.
Along the way I have designed trainings and curricula, built onboarding and capacity building programs, supervised teams, and led my own consulting practice since 2017. I serve as Cultural Equity Editor of the Journal of Humanistic Psychology and as President of the Metro Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Black Psychologists.
My approach is holistic because people are whole. I work from heart space, I bring creativity into serious work, and I draw on a wide range of methods and traditions, from psychology and organizational science to cultural and community practices from around the world, choosing what fits the people and the organization in front of me. I also hold a high bar. Whether you lead a global company or an NGO serving families in crisis, the work stays practical, specific, and tied to results you can see.
I am multilingual and have worked with teams from many cultures, which shapes how I listen and how I adapt a process to the people in the room.
Study at institutions known for rigor in medicine, social science, psychology, and global affairs.
